Semi Final Vs Greyshott

Ropley fell to a narrow 8 run defeat in the Medstead KO semi final in a low scoring encounter on a difficult wicket

at Bentworth.

Grayshott got off to a flyer as Ropley started with just 9 men due to late arrivals, the run rate was at 8 an over for

the first 6, but wickets were taken at regular intervals after this to stem the flow. Alex Stogdon 1-25, Ed Stennett

2-27 & John Sutton 2-25 bowled well to restrict the total to 118-5 in the full 20 overs. Ropley were again given a

bright opening by Gerrard (11) & Stogdon (25) before 3 quick wickets pegged them back. Martin Peters (24),

Tom Wood (15) & some generous extras (24) meant that with 6 overs to go just 36 were needed. However, the

Grayshott skipper Lang bowled with great movement & bounce, while the introduction of a 14 year old leg spinner,

who bowled 2 excellent overs for just 5 runs at a critical point, virtually sealed the win. Needing 17 from the last

over proved beyond them as they finished on 110-8.

Quarter Final Vs Medstead

Ropley secured a comfortable 8 wicket victory over Medstead to claim their place in the semi-finals. Early wickets

from Robert Smith, 3-26, & John Happel, 2-16, ensured that a large total was unlikely, Mark Munday 3-12 backed

them up as Medstead posted just 77 from their 18 overs. In reply Tom Stroud hit a brisk 15, two wickets then fell in

2 balls, however Smith 10 not out, joined Nick Gerrard in seeing Ropley home, Gerrard hit the winning boundary to

finish on an unbeaten 50.

Round 1 Ropley v Froxfield

A strong bowling performance gave Ropley a 21 run victory over Froxfield. Alexander Stogdon 30 & Alistair Cotton

23 were the main contributors in 108-5 off 16 overs. In reply all the bowlers bowled with great discipline, Robert

Smith 1-22, John Happel 0-13, Stogdon 1-21 & John Sutton 3-20, coupled with a bizarre run out courtesy off

of Sam Grahams head, saw Froxfield restricted to just 87-6.
